Life with type 1 diabetes is not easy. For children and their families, the relentless daily management tasks can become overwhelming and it can be an emotional roller coaster for everyone. As a person living with type 1 diabetes since childhood, and working in diabetes for many years, Dr Helen Edwards wanted to offer families a resource which takes some of the stress and worry out of managing diabetes, allows children to see themselves in the story and to have their worries heard.

Growing up with her own diabetes , working as a social worker and having hundreds of conversations with families about their daily lives with diabetes over her 16 years managing Diabetes Counselling Online, all led to the creation of Diabetes Dino, writen when Helen managed the counselling service – please note this service and the links in the book are no longer operating but you can find the archived website here.
