The Forevability Book Awards 2021
Have you written a book for children with a theme around disability, mental health, neurodiversity or chronic illness? Have a main character in your published book who lives with a mental or physical health condition or who is neurodiverse? Are you an author of an #ownvoices story who lives with a chronic condition, disability, or who is neurodiverse?
Then the Forevability Book Awards are for you and are now open for submissions!
Created by children’s author and disability advocate Tabitha Page, Forevability aims to make it easy to find books, podcasts and more, which focus on disability, illness and other specialised subjects. The hope is to inspire, empower, teach and support.
Their mission is to:
- Collect and provide resources related to disability, illness, inclusion and #ownvoices stories.
- Empower people living with disabilities or illnesses.
- Connect people with the same or similar conditions.
- Support those living with disability and illness, their family and friends.
- Advocate for individuals and families living with disabilities or illnesses.
The 1st Annual Forevability Book Awards
This award has been created to showcase Picture Books through to Middle-Grade books in the following themes:
– Disability
– Illness (long or short term)
– Own voices
The awards welcome submission of children’s books written or illustrated by a person with a disability, chronic condition, illness, or who are neurodiverse.
Entries by current living residents of Australia or New Zealand only. Entry criteria here. The impressive list of judges here and prizes on offer here.
Books must be published in Australia or New Zealand between January 1st 2010 and October 31st 2021. Can be self-published, or traditionally published.

The reason? Numbers for each category are capped, so it’s suggested that you select your category and book that spot before doing anything else. You may only enter one book in one category.
*Either the author or the illustrator must reside in Australia or New Zealand
*Books must be submitted as a PDF file, along with your entry form and Trybooking receipt
