A Light on the Rocks Book Launches!
I sat down and looked at my blog today and realised I hadn’t posted since October! The reasons are many, including the fact that in the last couple of months of 2026, I was head down, working on getting A Light in the Rocks ready to go to print before Christmas.
This was no small undertaking, with many rounds of edits, long days and busy weekends with my head and heart standing on the Cape Jaffa Lighthouse and the wreck of the SS Admella. By the time the manuscript had sailed off to become a book, I was ready for a rest!
So, here we are. It’s 2026. And it’s just two weeks until A Light on the Rocks is officially released. I have so far had a few early reviews that have made me so happy!

Book Launches
I was originally going to launch in Adelaide at the State Library, as a nod to my fabulous time spent there during my Fellowship. Over the holidays, I decided to make this more low key, as I have a number of other regional book launches.
Here are all the details!

KINGSTON SE LAUNCH
Saturday 14th February at the Cape Jaffa Lighthouse, Kingston SE, from 4.30 – 5.30. There will be drinks and nibbles and you can tour the lighthouse! I will be speaking about the history and writing process and there will be book sales and signing. You can find more details and RSVP here https://www.nationaltrust.org.au/event/a-light-on-the-rocks-book-launch/
PORT MACDONNELL LAUNCH
Sunday 15th February at the Port MacDonnell Community Centre from 11 am – 12.30 pm. I will be talking about the research and writing process and the history behind the story. Book sales and signings. You can tour the museum and see the relics from the SS Admella.

PORTLAND LAUNCH
Tuesday 17th February at the Portland Maritime Museum from 6.30 – 8pm. I will be talking about the writing and research process, and you can see the lifeboat and other relics from the SS Admella. Book sales and signings. I will also be delivering school sessions during the day at the museum.

I hope to see some of you at one of the launches and can’t wait to be out in the community sharing this story, which mixes magic, mystery and true history, to create a maritime adventure I hope you will love.
xx Helen
