David Trubridge’s Manuka wins best light

Dwell on Design is one of America’s most prominent design events. The wonderful David Trubridge who featured on the blog recently has just told me that their attendance at this prestigious fair was heralded by an unexpected win; their Manuka Light took out the Best Lighting category! This contemporary chandelier received great interest from the public and its recognition as an outstanding piece truly delighted them.

Inspired by the indigenous tea tree of New Zealand, Manuka creates a delicate and intricate array of interlinking patterns on the surrounding surfaces. Who needs wallpaper when you can have such beautiful shadow-play?

The Manuka Light uses LED lights and is made from bamboo ply, translucent polycarbonate and is sent flat-packed to distributors for assembly. dwell 2

David to give TEDx talk

TED is a not-for-profit organisation that was started 26 years ago in California. With its motto “Ideas Worth Spreading”, it’s no surprise that it has become a forum that facilitates great discussions around the world.

On 3rd August, TEDx is coming to Auckland. It will be a fantastic day of insights, inspiration and ideas from some of New Zealand’s most thought-provoking characters. David Trubridge joins an exciting line up that includes Helen Clark (former Prime Minister of New Zealand), ecostore founder Malcom Rands, Jimi Hunt creator of the charity Live More Awesome and local food entrepreneur/social advocate Pete Russel of ooooby, to name a few.

It promises to be a fantastic day.
