Her Shed – Classic Bedroom Style with a Sustainable Twist

Having a beautiful bed makes such an impact in your home, but I also believe it is part of your wellbeing. Seeing a messy, cluttered bed, can make for a messy, cluttered mind. One of my recommendations is to always make your bed in the morning. It feels like you have said goodbye to the night before, and moved into the current day. It is also such a pleasure to fall into a well made bed at the end of a busy day. If you can dress your bed with fabrics that are good for you and the environment, as well as looking gorgeous, you are in a winning position! I was lucky enough to meet the women from business Her Shed, at the Decor and Design show last year. I was able to feel their fabrics and chat about what they offer. I later bought the Frida Linen Jacket in Marled Indigo and the  Sabine Linen Dress in cornflower – both have become firm favourites in my wardrobe! (images show the jacket and dress, not modelled by me!).

I am lucky to have just been gifted one of the sumptuous velvet and linen throws, in the prettiest blush pink velvet, with a white linen backing stitched in blush threads. I am totally in love. The colour is a true blush pink and it comes in a range of colours from pale denim, to mustard, to black. Colour may vary on your screens. It is silky soft to touch and the reversible fabrics give you a range of options. I am looking forward to snuggling under it in cooler weather too, as it would be nice on the couch! For now, I am loving how it looks in my boho style bedroom, and the velvet is cool to lie on.

Her Shed was founded in 2009 out of a love and passion for beautiful bed linen. It has since grown into a boutique brand, creating high quality bedding, homewares and lifestyle fashion. These pieces are all designed in Byron Bay and ethically manufactured in Vietnam and India. The ranges are most definitely classic elegance, with a sustainable twist, as they use all natural fibres, featuring the finest linen, cotton, silk, silk velvet and beautiful details such as traditional hand stitching, embroidery and embellishment.

Ethically Made

Her Shed works directly with village craftspeople in Vietnam to produce their collections. Through this partnership, they help support a family cottage industry that has ethical business practices and cares for the environment and future generations. Kerrie Molloy is the designer and powerhouse behind Her Shed. She was born in Melbourne, started her working life in IT and then spent twenty years in the corporate world, including seven years in the United States. During this time she traveled extensively for work, which is where she discovered an appreciation for beautiful bed linen. After moving back to Melbourne, Kerrie studied Design History at RMIT, which led to a job at Jimmy Possum, and a move to Brisbane where she joined the Interior Design team at Jimmy Possum and then to Newrybar where she managed Seminyak, a bedding and clothing store in Byron Bay. In 2009 Kerrie was given the  chance to
take over that business, and Her Shed was born.

Her Shed’s new Spring /Summer 2018 collection features the range of stylish linen quilts, gorgeous silk
velvet and linen quilts in lovely soft pastels and vibrant silk velvet and linen throws.
