Legend of the Lighthouse Moon Wins Forevability Award

I was delighted and honoured when Legend of the Lighthouse Moon made the shortlist in Category two of the Forevability Awards earlier this year, along with some amazing authors and their books.
So, you can imagine my shock to discover that Legend of the Lighthouse Moon came in FIRST place in the Forevability awards Category two, with the amazing Tania Ingram and Kate Buffay Jr. in second and third places! What a list to be on.
As you may know, this story includes a main character living with type 1 diabetes in 1970. I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 1979 and was able to use my personal experiences of grappling with this diagnosis and the overwhelming grief and changes that needed to be made in my life and that of my family. To have this recognised in this significant award was very special.
The mission of the team at Forevability is to provide resources related to Disability, Illness, Inclusion and Own Voice stories. To empower people living with disabilities or illnesses and connect people with others living with the same conditions. To support those living with Disability and Illness, their family and friends. To advocate for individuals and families living with disabilities or illnesses.
I am very grateful to everyone at Forevability for creating these awards to champion diverse books and to all the judges who read the entries and selected Mona and her story as the number one placing!
