The Disappearing Circus is Officially Launched!
It’s been a whirlwind since late June when I went to visit Canberra to launch On Gallant Wings (postponed from earlier in the year due to my illness) and to do a pre-launch peek of The Disappearing Circus at The Book Cow. While there, I also ran a workshop at the fabulous Canberra Libraries Dickson branch, and visited Melaleuca Primary School to deliver five workshops! It was an epic trip!
Essie and I visited the Australian War Memorial, where we met the real war pigeon who now lives there as a reminder of the work the Australian Corps of Signals Pigeon Service did during WW11. It was an emotional day.
Since returning, I have been busy with lots of things, but most importantly, The Disappearing Circus is launched! On Saturday 2nd August, the lovely Burnside Library was our venue, hosted by award-winning author Beverly McWilliams. My husband and manager John, played the clown and was very good at it! I was the Ringmistress and everyone was entranced by the story, the creatures that feature, the circus treats I had made, and the chance to try out their talents with juggling, hula hooping and ribbon twirling.

All in all, it was a fun and beautiful celebration of Ivy and Emme’s story. Thank you to my dear friend and writing partner Kate Gordon. To our publisher Rowena Berseford at Riveted Press and my gorgeous family. Thank you to everyone who came to support Kate and I at the launch and to Becky and Mike from Shakespeare’s Bookshop.
And huge thanks to all who have so far bought, read and reviewed The Disappearing Circus.
It’s time to fly!
XX Helen
